First Week Down!

I can't believe that fall arrived and that it is almost October! We had a busy week in kindergarten today, but here are a few highlights.

Yesterday we had a school assembly to welcome an astronaut who came from NASA to talk to us! 

Today we used Mat Man to help us draw pictures of our families: 

And we also drew selfie portraits and took a selfie with Mrs. C:

We ended the week by listening to music and engaging in some STEM play:

Math Trays Day 1

Today we started working with our math trays. Students will use math trays as an opportunity to practice math skills that we are learning in the classroom through individual and partner games. This week we will be practicing using the materials in our table groups, and the trays will rotate from group to group each day. Soon, students will get to independently choose activities off of the shelves! Day 1 of math trays went really well and students seem very excited to start round 2!

A great first day in K!

I want to start by saying how happy I am to be back in the classroom and how excited I am for this group of kinders! It's crazy to think that they will be the graduating class of 2028! Woo!

We had a FABULOUS first day of school. I can already tell that this group is full of creative and innovated thinkers who are going to make this year such a great year of learning! Don't be surprised if your kinder is EXHAUSTED tonight because I sure am! We spent a lot of time today talking and practicing how to just be in school and I'm the classroom. We practiced walking in line (already doing so great!), sitting at the rug, and moving around the classroom. In addition to reading "The Kidding Hand" and exploring our STEM activity shelves, we also got to go to PE with Ms. Gray and library with Mrs. B for the first time! 

Tomorrow we will continue getting oriented with classroom life. In the mean time, please check out your child's green folder that they brought home today. It has information and should be sent back to school daily so I can continue to update you. It's a great place to send me any notes too! 

Thank you to the families that have already sent in tissues, hand sanitizer, wipes, and snack items! It is very much appreciated.
